I thinking about creating a warrior -> templar and i would like to know a thing.

In some games where I played knight with shield and 1h weapon they where very underpowered. Their stats were based on high hp and high def but very low physical attack that means that you need party to killing mobs cause if u trying alone u kill only one mob per minute. How strong are templars actually? Are they stronger than gladiator in pvp ?
I hope that anyone from previus cbs or chinese aion can tell some things about it. Ty

Well you actually answered the question yourself.

A tank class relies more on CC, HP and deff then dps.

Which ofc is the general idea, they do less dmg but stay alive much much longer.
So if you want a dps class then choose that and if you want a more tanking class then go for that.

As far as I understand it Templars are more tanks then dps and warriors are more dps then tanks although both classes can perform both jobs decent they both have different strong sides.

Interesting!

So, from what I'm seeing so far, the Templar seems to be a lot closer to a WoW Paladin, probably Prot spec (for lack of a better example) while the Gladiator is closer to a Warrior, but with less high-level tanking ability.  I can see a number of ways that both of these could be useful in groups (PvP in particular will be interesting with both classes--looks like the Templar could be pretty hard to kill).

To anyone that's tried these: would you say you've found a point where you would need to switch from a gladiator tanking to a Templar? I'd assume it would be necessary at higher levels, but I'd love to hear about it from anyone with experience in the betas.

As said before, yeah Templars are a tank, and to me they sound similar to a Prot pally from WoW(I play one).  Gladiators are similar to Fury Warriors from WoW(two handed weapon dps) since we're using WoW as a reference.  But if you want to check into classes abilities and skills, maybe as well weapons and armor I have a really good sight for you.  xxx: xxx: aionarmoryxxx: /search. aspx?browse=6. 6 if you drag your mouse over the "skills" tab near the top of the page, a list of the classes will pop down.  Click the one you wish to investigate, I've only looked at the templar but they're list has 120 or so abilities so they must be pretty close to being complete. . . hopefully.  Hope this helps!

How well do u think this class will do in pvp.  If im thinking correct this class may have to have diffrent sets of gear for tanking and then obviosly pvp.  Correct me if im wrong.

most likely.

For tanking for example there are special stones to enhance gear for example stamina dodge parry and these wouldnt be best for pvp.

Choice of stigmas also would affect your performace in either role. basically there are 11 stigmas to choose from but you can only choose 5. more research needs to be done at max level to determine which stigmas work out best for endgame tanking pve.

Personally I am making myself Templar, I am tank usually in every mmo.

Tbh, Never say a Templar is like a Protadin, it makes Templar look bad :(.  Templars are more unique then a Protadin and warrior, like most of Aion, it's Unique.

Anyway.

If you want to be a PvE tank.  Stack; Block and Parry(these are your main things you MUST get capped).

tbh, you don't need the HP stones, we get enough hp as it is, also if you stack Block and Parry you will pretty much Mitigate most of the blows.

PvP : Stack Crit, Crit rate and Hp( or you can move hp with Accuracy. )

As for pvp.  IF you become a Heavy pvp tank, you will be a Bit** to bring down if you get the right stigma's and stones.   Only thing that will drag you down will the the range kiting, especially when they're in the air.

I wouldn't say there is very much that is unique in Aion at all TBH.   There are lots of things which are done very nicely but saying Aion is unique is quite misleading.   Anyone who has played the likes of Everquest, WoW, WAR, Guildwars, Lineage etc.  will already have experienced most of what Aion has to offer in some form and immediately feel comfortable with the controls, game play elements etc.

I believe NCSoft have looked at most of the popular MMORPGs already on the market and incorporated the bits which worked well and then incorporated those elements into their existing engine.   I would say Aion is a MMORPG evolution rather than reinvention, not that this is a bad thing.

and also. . .  from videos of what a templar can do, prot pally comes directly to my mind.   no other tank was designed to take on large numbers of mobs quite like the protadin(just look at Mount Hyjal), and if templars are going to have that aoe-death grip(dont flame, just calling it that till i learn the real name), it seems like they are meant to take on all comers and keep on going.
